I have spent the day forgetting things, losing my balance, and accidentally asking people the same questions over and over. Or forgetting to ask them at all.

Bigger just came over, and got into bed with me, and snuggled me lots, and told me not to go to work tomorrow. She says I should get a doctor's note and stay in bed until I'm making more sense. I think that'll be a long wait, personally, but I kinda see her point.

I just... I don't want to lose my job. I'm already on extended probation because my freezer was broken in my first month of work, which resulted in repeated stomach bugs. I can't afford to not be working, right now.

And my mum phoned up and worried at me and told me to come home, which is helping the work resolve Not At All.

I'm buggered if I know what to do. Frankly? I just want to sleep.

What kind of malicious bastard employer would fire you because you can't work with a concussion?

I vote for you to stay home, but you know I've been saying that all along. I worry about you.

Thanks, sweetheart. I'm sorry I've been lax with comment replying.

I dunno, specsavers have no sort of loyalty to me 'cos I've only been there a few months. They probably wouldn't fire me, but the possibility that they might is worrying me.

Mmph. I dunno.

Don't forget to keep breathing (as silly as that sounds, but when you hurt and are anxious you unintentionally breathe shallower, making yourself more anxious).

You could always talk to your boss and explain the situation: that you know you've been sick a lot lately, but right now with a concussion you're not at the top of your game. They might recongize your importance to them (not that they don't already, 'cause you're fab) if you show them you realize that what they're doing is important too.

But feel better, dear. *hugs oh-so-carefully* And, as some random guy told me on the subway, "Smile! It won't mess up your hair." So... yeah. :D

*snorts*

I like random subway guy.

Thanks, sweetness, I do appreciate it. And yes - breathing is good. Had a minor anxiety attack at work today due to not being able to stand upright, which is never reassuring.

We shall see, I guess. I'll decide tomorrow morning.

Have you talked at all to your boss about it? Or anybody else at work who might know what their likely reactions to this might be? Or a doctor? (Cause I'm fairly sure that working when you can't stand up properly sometimes is not a good plan.) And if the worst came to the worse, it might be worth it to take this time off and get a new job, if you're that sick. :(

*hugs you gently*

I don't want to talk to my boss about it because I can't do the whole WE ARE ALL EQUAL AS HUMAN BEINGS mindset. *grins* As far as I'm concerned, my role in life is to serve her, and if I fail in that I fail as a human being.

Okay, yes, I'm very much overstating the case here. But... I dunno. I flail and lose my words when I'm talking to the boss, and... concussions aren't good for visible symptoms. If you're pale, or green, or covered in orange spots, it's pretty obvious there's a problem. Not if you just keep standing there, frowning, with your eyes closed. Dizziness is not as obvious as I'd like.

I always worry people will think I'm skiving.

Hmmm. Can you have them contact the doctor you saw last week? The doctor would explain that continued symptoms are likely, and it would help bolster your case of 'I'm as useful as a wet noodle just now,' etc. But I do know exactly how you feel -- you need this job, and don't want to do anything to jeopardize it, and speaking as someone who works in a similar sort of field, I've definitely seen folks get fired for not coming in when their employers thought they were fit to do so. So this brings us back to my original point of communication betwixt boss and doctor.

Yes.

*hugs*
