There is something absurdly, uncommonly beautiful, Mary Bennett thought, driven by voices and dances and company to take refuge in the newly established rose garden, about a dirty pair of knees.

The knees were soon hidden as the young lady righted herself, flipped her skirts into something almost resembling order, slightly the worse for the wear of the tree she had been hanging out of moments before. Mary was so busy properly disapproving that she quite missed the young lady’s approach, though there was little she could do to ignore the impertinent proffering of her hand.

“Margaret Dashwood,” she said.

I never thought of it, but now I ship it too. I do hope that the young ladies eventually retire together to a genteel establishment, where they occupy their time by educating the children of the poor.
