Aug. 5th, 2006 07:18 pmThere's a show about finding the new Maria for Sound of Music, and the contact embarrassment is back in control. It's making me cringe, even from the other room. It hurts us, precious.
I dunno. Do you think it's remiss of parents to convince people they have talent when they don't? I have caught X-Factor auditions and the like before and I've seen people putting their heart and soul into performances and just not being any good, but being absolutely convinced that they're the best thing since sliced bread. Is it better that they have that confidence without foundation, and proceed to get the stuffing entirely knocked out of them? Is that better than talent unused through lack of confidence? I don't know.
I reckon Aziraphale's watching this, though, with a quite unholy amount of glee.
