Oct. 6th, 2006 07:50 pmToday is day of all updates. I make no excuses - like I say, it's been a busy and weird day.
First off, I'm having a bit of a problem; the story I'm reading is mentioning food, and every time there is mention of someone taking a bite I get this very very vivid image of someone accidentally overbiting and sinking their teeth into the flesh of their own finger to the bone. Every time it's making me twitch, sometimes full-on shudder. I get these morbid fascinations from time to time, but rarely so persistently or involuntarily... what're we thinking? Naptime?
Secondly, I went to work today, much as usual. I decided, since I was supposed to be getting my mp3 player in the post, to come home at lunchtime, whereupon I didn't find my mp3 player but did find my younger sister, who'd been locked in the downstairs toilet for five hours, two of which had been spent crying. So, yeah - I fetched the stepladder, got her to climb out of the window, made her lunch and hot chocolate, phoned my boss and stayed home the rest of the day.
And couldn't stop laughing when I phoned mum to tell her.
Also, I'm making a lot of progress with a story I'm going to write. No writing as yet, but a hell of a lot of research which is all falling into place. It's quite incredibly shiny. Mental notes:
- collective unconscious
- mushrooms?
- I am a fucking golden god (but I'm not the only one)
- human nature. God.
- that theory. You know the one. Yeah.
Plans for the weekend involve QI, staying up entirely too late, wishing my mother a very happy birthday, and watching Almost Famous with the sister.
