In the mental image I just had (ridiculously clear and inexplicable), the insides of my brain were cavernous and pearlescent grey, arched and whorled and full of echoes. The floor was hard and cold and faintly shiny - it was like being inside an ammonite shell. There was just so much space and I couldn't see where things were put - it explains why sometimes the perfect quote is just to hand and at other times people's names go.

I wanted to know if God lived there.
