Dec. 18th, 2006 06:52 amYou may have noticed that I'm not one to play it cool. If I like something, that thing is the best thing ever in the world EVER for the next five minutes, and my vocabulary with which to describe it is pretty durned limited. So, you know, Temeraire and The History Boys and Trick will all be completely AMAZING when I talk about them, but in such very different ways and I don't think I adequately express that. So it might be worth your while to go and pester others of the folken who were there to get them to talk about Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake so you get a better perspective on it than just me getting my squee on.
For the record, those who were there (since there was much talk of mutual friending and I would assist that where I can):
apiphile (who let me stay at her flat and talk about Hard Core Logo until 8am),
kenovay (who let me stay at her house and convert her to Wilby Wonderful),
rowanberries (who laughed madly at me when the waiter at Coffee Cake and Kink threatened to ballgag me),
innerbrat (who gave me BLACKADDER!!!),
soupytwist (who turned to me and said 'Holy Shit' at the exact same moment I did the same to her),
foreverdirt (who I didn't get nearly enough 'Tao of McKay' squeeing with), and
anotherusedpage (who - hahahaha football. She's so great.)
Oh, and Del? Here's that amazing Stargate vid you wanted. ;)
I had a truly phenomenal weekend. I'm a little strung out on not enough sleep and too much wine and will have to talk about most of it later, I think, but I will say that if you get the chance to see Matthew Bourne's production you should drop everything and go. It was an absolutely beautiful thing to watch, and so enormously different from my experience of Swan Lake previously. It was hugely evocative, and where the last one I saw was a lovely thing to watch it didn't relate the story in the same way. I'm going to have to read through my programme later on too - mental note.
...and I should get ready for work. Truly, an inadequate review, but I'm sure there'll be better elsewhere. ;)
ETA: *snickers* <--- the second half of my weekend. XD Makes me want to write HCL fic now I understand Joe a lot better. Go careful if you don't want spoilers for Hard Core Logo.
