I don't agree with RPS. It's a personal thing. I don't condemn people who do, it's just Not For Me.

I am curious, though - who decides on what's IC/OOC in this particular subset of fandom? Is it just a case of cardboard cutouts with familiar faces? How is it different from writing characters, played by these actors, together?

I realise that this doesn't apply to boyband fic so much, but that's slightly different in that they tend to adopt certain characters in interviews and suchlike, until they decide they want to start a solo career and attempt to grow a personality. Or, at least, that's how it seems to me; I'm not really an expert because, like I say, RPS Ain't For Me.

Anyone?

Also, it's Valentine's Day here, and it's the last chance to say something nice to someone.(On my meme, anyway. ;) ) I'll be unscreening comments and alerting folk after work tonight.

Happy Valentines, all.

You do get stuff from interviews - the only things I've ever really read are Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles, and I've seen some of the their interviews, they're pretty cool.

But really it's very loose, you hit on a characterisation you like and just try to stay consistent within that particular fic/series. It's almost like writing original characters who happen to be hot film stars and coincidentally share a name with some real hot film stars, when you think about it.
