Mar. 3rd, 2007 04:27 pmWent to the art gallery today. They'd had another shuffle so my favourite pictures have disappeared somewhere, but Gormley's diver and Burne-Jones' Perseus are constants and comforting. There was an exhibition called 'Darkness Visible' and I went in at the end of the exhibition, working through to the beginning. The first piece I saw was called 'Prometheus' by Mark Wallinger, and was a projection of a man in shirt and tie sitting in an electric chair and singing something. It was slowed down, but occasionally sped up abruptly for a few moments. Very odd, huge impact. The best part of the collection, though, was a room with video projections, the soundtracks of which included frequent thunder. Just as I was entering the room next to it, wandering between pictures and listening to the distant crashes, the heavens opened above the gallery and it tipped it down. It was intensely pleasing.
By the time I got out it'd stopped again, and now it's gorgeous and sunny once more.
I'm watching the original film of Stargate, now, and eating chocolate. I'm such a hedonist.
