Mar. 5th, 2007 06:44 pmListening to a muchness of Regina Spektor and reading a ridiculous amount of meta because I never remember to do such things. I'm watching
metafandom and the links today all seem to relate to the whole BNF whateverthefuck that's going on in and around Supernatural fandom. It's prompted a thought or two in my little brain, but I have no idea if you guys want to hear my thoughts on fandom and the like. I don't really know how many of you are here for fandom reasons - I'm kind of assuming not that many, considering how I shrug fandoms on and off like coats of varying comfort.
Speaking of which, actually. My favourited fic list in my memories is bordering on the ridiculous, and I discover new and entirely frabjous fics every single day. Do you think it's worth starting some sort of rec journal thing? I've done something in the line of it before, but I set myself a ridiculous task with the amount of fic I was reading through, a lot of which was very bad. This'd be more a case of just pleasing myself, really, reccing the things I've come across here and there. I don't know if it's easier to just do it in this journal - the possibility of starting a new journal for it is more as a way of helping myself be organised, since I'm starting from the disadvantage of resembling a headless chicken, rather.
I'm also wanting to change my default icon, but my life at the moment is hugely transitiony and I haven't a clue what to replace it with. The images I'm drawn to just don't describe me. Who I want to be, maybe, but I'm really not there yet.
Suggestions on any and all of the above?

I think, personally, just make rec posts once a week and tag them. Saves logging in and out.

Date: 2007-03-05 07:19 pm (UTC)But I can't have a Hewlett icon! Partly because I have so many already and that would be simply ridiculous, and partly because the fandom enthusiasm thing is so very fleeting.
(Possibly all of me is. I choose to pretend this is not the case.)

I'm also loving the fact that it's the first thing to appear on the new Enjoy England TV ads, and the short clip features only Sound II. Makes me feel all glowy :-P

Date: 2007-03-05 08:11 pm (UTC)And I would friend a fic rec journal, even if it was just you posting every few weeks at random intervals with a random collection of links. Would not necessarily read all the stories, depending on fandom, but I'd definitely be interested.
I will muse about icons. It's harder for a default; I can think of icons and icon subjects I think you'd like, but that's not the same thing as one you feel is all-encompassing enough to be a default.

Date: 2007-03-06 04:09 am (UTC)If you made a rec journal, I would friend it, mostly hoping for GO or DW recs. Personally, though, I think it would be less complicated to make the posts in this journal and tag them.
Oh dear, you have suddenly made me very self-conscious about my default icon, which I haven't changed since I started on LJ, but which I actually seldom use.
