May. 5th, 2007 11:30 pmI know none of you know the fandom. I know. That's entirely beside the point.
This is one of the most awesome pieces of writing I've come across in a long while, seriously. The use of extended metaphor is so effective and so perfectly in character that it makes the little potential English teacher in my head dance in tiny happy circles.
Also? It's very short. So you should go check it out purely for that alone.
And then you should all download Traders and put more Grant fic into the world.
Two things that make me happy in the same way as each other:
'he said happily', and the use of the adverb 'industriously'. I do not know why, but somehow in stories they are just the most adorable fragments of the English language to exist.
Also? Ridiculous onomatopoeia. Like galumph, and sproing, and thwap.
Today I like words because I haven't written anything, I've just been reading through my writing journal and feeling reasonably pleased with myself. Tomorrow I'll start wrestling with fic again and the English language will be a bitch rather than mine.
:D?
