American people:

Zip or zipper, please? We're talking sleeping bag, if that makes a difference.

As a noun, zipper. As a verb, zip.

No difference on account of sleeping bag-ishness. :)

What [livejournal.com profile] phoenixchilde said, except that I've seen/heard 'zip' used as a noun often enough that you could get away with it.

It doesn't make a difference, but I have to second [livejournal.com profile] raggedass_road in that it's not uncommon nowadays for people to say things like "Oh - the zip is stuck." So you'd be safe either way although the traditional noun is zipper.

"Zip" for the verb, "zipper" for the noun, "this f*&^ing thing, I swear to God it's got part of my arm hair stuck in it" for the kind found on sleeping bags.
