Well I suppose one out of two ain't bad. Sadly, we didn't actually get to see any Gormley today because the exhibition was sold out. This was very sad, doubly so because it meant we spent the day in Waterstones and I spent hideous amounts of money on books. Which I just typoed as 'beer' for some reason.
Pictures to come of the covers of 'the back alley' and 'lesbian horse stories' -
apiphile directed me straight to the gay and lesbian section, see - but I wound up leaving with 'Mysterious Skin' which was made into a film with Joseph Gordon-Levitt which I read about long ago and wanted to watch, a book called 'Strangers: Homosexual love in the nineteenth century', and the most awesome book of awesome ever to be produced.
It's called 'Gentleman: A timeless fashion' and it covers absolutely everything you could possibly want to know about dressing elegantly. The shops to buy from, the right way to shave, how to match your shoes to your trousers, your trousers to your jacket, and your handkerchief to your tie. It has instructions for tying a Windsor knot, a bow tie and a cravat, tells you how shoes and silk are made, has information about hats and toupees, the best sorts of watches and sunglasses and which underwear is suitable to invest in.
Scans forthcoming, I suspect.
(It's possible I'm in love.)
There was also banana and walnut cake at Coffee, Cake and Kink, and Czech beer in a place where I drank beer very fast and got confused. (This happens more often than you'd - no, okay. Never mind. I can't back that up. XD)
All in all, even in spite of the Gormley, a marvellous day.
Oh, and
apiphile made me agree to do a meme. I must check my phone and get instructions, one moment.
Er. Something along the lines of:
Comment and I'll write a fic involving three items from your interests list
or something. I'll get corrected if I'm wrong. :D
