So the lesson I taught today was kind of awesome and unintentional. I had a lesson planned, and everything, but basically what I did was write some questions on the board:

- How do you want to progress in English?
- What would success look like? What would you be able to do?
- What skills do you need? How can I help you learn and develop them?
- What could you do to progress?

Then we spent the next 45 minutes discussing the questions, writing ideas all over the board, arguing, coming to agreements, and now I have a list of suggestions that are going to be turned into a learning contract that I'm going to stick into their books. It gave me a lot of insight into my teaching and the areas in which I've been slack, and it gave them ideas about how to get the most out of the class and how they can help themselves. And now I can poke them about how little they're actually doing to fulfill their part of the bargain...

It's good to see myself developing. It's good to see myself as a desirable employee, y'know? Need to start applying for jobs more actively and aggressively. No way am I sticking around where I am come the summer.

(It was a little hilarious that this off-the-cuff lesson was inspired by the assembly we had on progress; there was a clip from Top Gear with Sabine Schmitz racing a Ford Transit. I have a small embarrassing crush on her. XD)
