Because I want to "know" my characters
Aug. 8th, 2003 01:59 pm1. My favourite slice of bread in a loaf is the crusty piece at the end.
2. I had a twin, but he was stillborn.
3. I am not a very tactile person; I will shake hands, but anything else is reserved for close friends or people I have sex with.
4. I have no close friends.
5. Before I was bitten, Boggarts took the shape of a bear around me. This is because my older brother told me they’d eat me if I stepped on cracks in the pavement. This terrified me.
6. When I was very young, I wanted to be a writer. When I was a little older, I wanted to work for [wizarding publisher] Reed and Wright. Now, I just want to work.
7. I have only two socks that don’t have holes or darns in the heel or the toe.
8. They don’t match.
9. I worry that some of my… compulsions… aren’t caused by the wolf at all.
10. I am a largely inoffensive cook- not particularly accomplished, but neither have I poisoned anyone. I make a fantastic Spaghetti Bolognese, though cooking spells have defeated me.
11. I started to get grey hairs at the age of eleven. Consequentially, the first spell I learned to do with any proficiency was a glamour that I would cast during the term time, so as not to draw attention to myself. I cast particularly impenetrable glamours, and have contributed to research on the subject: my essay, “Keep it hidden: The use of semi-precious stones in glamour spells” can be found in “Minor protection spells,” edited by Bathilda Bagshot. There is a copy in the Hogwarts library.
12. My middle name is Jonah.
13. Whenever I move to a new place (which is often), my first priority is to join a library. I love to read, but can’t afford to buy new books. If there is not a wizarding library available, I am perfectly happy to read Muggle fiction.
14. If someone strokes my hair it will put me to sleep.
15. I have a large scar on the back of my neck. Unlike normal scar tissue, perhaps because a magical creature caused it, it is extremely sensitive. I miss having someone to lick it.
16. My worst habit is humming tunelessly when I’m happy. I don’t realise I’m doing it until someone throws something at me.
17. I would much rather apparate than use a broom.
18. I privately agree with Severus that “the Order of the Phoenix” is a ridiculous name, and sometimes despair of Dumbledore’s love of theatrics.
19. I can play the guitar reasonably, but I had to sell my last one three years ago and haven’t been able to afford one since. I can no longer fall back on busking to provide food.
20. I live at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My previous landlord was killed. I am looking for a job elsewhere so I can leave as soon as possible.
21. I drink a lot of tea. Redbush, for preference.
22. I have been in love only once. It ended badly. He died recently. I miss him.
23. I love rain that is so heavy it hurts.
24. For the most part I am a restrained person, and I work very hard at remaining so. There are very few things that can make me lose control.
25. I haven’t spoken to my parents for about fourteen years, and I have no wish to do so. I sometimes, at my darkest times, wish they’d die so I would have a place to live. My older brother died when I was nine years old.
26. I don’t talk very much because it strains my voice. It was permanently damaged when I was young because of the frequency with which I would wake up screaming.
27. I don’t trust people easily. I do, however, trust Molly to attempt to feed me up whenever I am in her vicinity. I trust Arthur to know when I don’t want to talk. I trust Harry to act without thinking. I trust Severus to make my life as difficult as possible, yet still make me Wolfsbane potion. I trust Albus to do what he believes is best for me, whatever my feelings on the matter.
28. The Weasleys are the family I wish I’d had. Even Fred and George.
29. I love to look up at the night sky. My favourite constellation is a tiny faint one that looks like a question mark.
30. My hair grows a lot faster than most people’s. I don’t choose this hairstyle, it chooses me. The last person to cut my hair was Hagrid, and that is really all you need to know.
31. Apart from buskers, I have never seen music performed live. The only Yule Ball I ever attended was disrupted very early on by Sirius and James. The others all fell on or around full moons.
32. I really hate pumpkin juice.
33. My father used to make cider. I can’t stand the smell any more. When I drink, which is a rare occurrence, I drink stout.
34. When I am nervous I chew at the skin around my fingernails.
35. My handwriting is barely legible.
36. I don’t sleep much, because I often have nightmares.
37. I once had a chocolate brownie flavoured Every Flavour Bean, and it was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. I have spent a lot of time since looking for another one, unsuccessfully.
38. Peter Pettigrew was one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. He would make quiet, disingenuous little comments that would make me laugh like an idiot for half an hour afterward. If he’d had a little more courage he could have been very popular. I would kill him if I had the chance.
39. I have never killed a human being, though I have come close.
40. If I could have one wish, I would wish for a way to ensure that lycanthropy is not passed on to children. I am unwilling to risk the one in five chance of infecting another.
41. I was born in the autumn. I don’t think there is a living person besides myself that knows my birthday. I am quite happy for it to remain so.
42. I prefer apples to chocolate.
43. The greatest luxuries in life are a comfortable bed, and a hot bath.
44. I never enjoyed blowjobs particularly, before Severus. He has a very talented tongue.
45. My very first crush was on Professor Kettleburn, the Care of Magical Creatures teacher, and I never admitted that to any of my friends.
46. My favourite smells are honey, ginger and cinnamon. I don’t particularly like flowery scents, and clean sharp scents like lemon remind me of my mother.
47. I am a terrible liar.
48. My eyes are not hazel, they are grey. Sirius used to tell me that they changed colour with the weather, but Sirius used to tell me all sorts of things.
49. My favourite colour is black. Not really a colour at all.
50. I hate to talk about myself.
Note: this is the Remus from Hidden and this story will be continued, most likely. (self pimpage. *g*)
If you have any questions for Remus, please let me know and I'll pass them on.

Date: 2003-08-08 06:20 pm (UTC)I agree with whoever it was above - Number 44 was nice *smirks*
I have three questions for our dear Remus -
1: How do you feel about liquorice? Love it or hate it?
2: What would you do if Severus died?
3: Or was really a triple agent and still working for Voldemort?

Date: 2003-08-08 08:06 pm (UTC)2) Why? Do you know something we don't?
Severus isn't going to die. He's resourceful, and he will survive if only to spite me. The world will end, and through the clouds of dust, Severus will appear, scowl firmly in place. He's survived so far, hasn't he? After... everything. *bitter grin*
3)Only a triple agent? You underestimate him. I don't think it will happen. But if it did... I would have to kill him.
Question From A Fellow Remus

Date: 2003-08-08 08:00 pm (UTC)Now I just eat whatever the House Elves provide. If they didn't... I don't think I'd bother. Most days, it doesn't seem worth the effort.

Date: 2003-08-09 12:24 am (UTC)I don't think I'd be a screamer even if I could be. I'm not one to lose control if I can possibly avoid it. In bed *blushes bright red and looks away* I tend to growl. Not too loud. I've never had the security enough that I could be- always someone else around.
2) It's not a situation I think I'll ever be in again.
*painfully* Sirius did, once. He said he wanted me to scar him. I never wanted to taste his blood. We had a fight about that.

Actually, this makes me think. You could come up with one of those pop psychology tests that would diagnose your personality based on which of Remus Lupin's "50 things" you liked best. Hee.
