Yes, I learned to not ever keep any food I actually want anywhere near the housemates. It's stupid that you have to do so, but there it is. Apparently some people never had the conversation with parents or mentors about not taking things that aren't yours.
I really feel like most people need to go back to kindergarten for a day or two and get reminded of a few basics of humanity.
That's evil. When I last shared a flat I had an "open cupboard" policy with one of them who didn't have much cash on the proviso that she did *not* drink my Coke or leave me without chocolate. One weekend a complete stranger walked up to me in the street and said, "Here, $flatmate says she's sorry but she finished the chocolate and here's a new bar, she's got to get her bus!"
