I get Very, Very Upset when my slashTP breaks up. It seems to happen far more than I'd like, and watching the episodes in which it does is Painful and Rarely Undertaken. Except for Mountie on the Bounty. Why do you suppose that is? I guess they resolve it, but then they resolve it in Sports Night, too, only it takes far too long for my liking. And lawdy, my joy upon their recently resolving it in SG:A actually very nearly killed me with joy, but I still haven't managed to watch the Break Up episode again. Yes, folks, I've still only seen Trinity once.

*laughs*

I'm just a big dork, really (almost mistyped as 'fork' which changes my whole point and is an argument for another time). I like happy endings. I shall never write a Truly Great Story because I don't have the required cynicism, I think. But the stupid-ass romance moves ever closer to being done.

:D?

Belatedly answering your actual comment rather than the icon...

:D

It's hard, isn't it? It just makes me sad, because I love Rodney and I hate to see him a) fuck up and b) get rejected from fixing the fuck up. Mostly I think the second one - I mess up enough to always want forgiveness, or at least perceive that I do, so the idea that someone would refuse to forgive...

:(

But that's what makes the Adrift apology scene SO MUCH BETTER because you can see how far Rodney and John have come since Trinity. Rodney apologizes and means it, not wanting John to shun him like after Trinity, and John doesn't wanna hold a grudge or be mad at Rodney like he did before, so it takes him exactly ten seconds to accept the apology. They need each other! They don't wanna be mad at each other anymore! They are love! :D

HEE! YES! I actually squeaked for the most ridiculous amount of time over that. I only squeaked more, I will confess, over the fact that he called him JOHN!

" John, we are losing her here."

::Did he just call him JOHN?!::

--Rewinds--

"John, we are losing her here."

::OMG HE DID!!!::

And the best thing was that it's not the first time he's called him John, it's just the first time we've heard him do it.

The amount of John and Rodney relationship this season is amazing. Plus, John's gone from casual cock-blocking to no-holds-barred. The fruit basket was just the latest, but the situation with Norina was definitely marking the beginning of John's inability to allow anybody become interested in Rodney.

Katie is...different and I think John knows that. Why should he waste his time trying to break them up when she's no threat. Rodney will self-destruct that relationship all on his own.

::Loves John and Rodney::

(So, do you read the spoilers or get surprised with each new episode?)

HAHAHAHAHA I totally did that too. And as soon as it was confirmed I texted [livejournal.com profile] soupytwist and [livejournal.com profile] the_oscar_cat just saying OMG HE CALLED HIM JOHN! This is why people are wary of giving me their numbers, see?

XD

And YES! It's so just the first time we've heard it because it was completely casual, just something he did. Not momentous. And even better? It was a time of Great Emotional Upheaval and was therefore conceivably a slip - because usually Rodney doesn't allow himself to slip when they're in public, of course.

Plz note - STUPID-ASS SMILE, HERE.

I love love love that there is canonical cock-blocking. It's like... they try to write them straight, and they try to write John as cool, and then David and Joe completely undermine them at every turn. It makes me happy. And Katie/Rodney annoyed me by being really sweet in Tabula Rasa, but I agree - Rodney fails at relationships and if the PTB don't kill her for maximised RodneyWoob he's guaranteed to mess it up sooner or later.

And I'm totally avoiding spoilers this season, weirdly. Even worse? I have yet to see Missing or the Seer. I don't deserve them yet, I haven't done any homework for a while. XD

It's like... they try to write them straight, and they try to write John as cool

See, I think there's a little thing going on around the writers' room where Joe Mallozzi will obliviously read the scripts and go "huh, that's a cute line" while Martin Gero and Carl Binder are secretly writing in these lines that are in NO way pushing the "John is straight" theory. Between Martin Gero writing John as queer (with Carl's help) and Joe Flanigan playing John as queer (which I'm even more convinced of now after the Australian con Joe did), there's no way John Sheppard is straight. I don't care of Joe Mallozzi is oblivious, we all know it. Even lines that are written as straight, when delivered by Joe, have whole other connotations. The Tao of Rodney line "the way a friend feels for another friend" is delivered in such a way that he's almost protesting too much. Oh, John, it's okay...DADT can't touch you if you just live with Rodney, stay in Pegasus, and never leave.

and if the PTB don't kill her for maximised RodneyWoob he's guaranteed to mess it up sooner or later.

It's gonna end, I can foresee it. I do not trust the writers at this point and they made me like her in Tabula Rasa, so yeah....I'm pretty convinced that Rodney's not gonna have Katie for much longer. I really hope it's a break-up rather than a death because...stop killing people, for serious!

Australian con?

*very, very intrigued*

Dude, I'm sorry that I'm incapable of carrying on coherent conversation currently - I'm drunk on honey beer and watching sports night. XD

I have inappropriate love for Martin Gero, even though most of the time when I listen to commentaries he's like... Yes! That thing you just said! That was totally what I meant and not the interpretation you could come up with where I just wasn't paying attention and accidentally made something awesome.

...does that even make sense? XD

Seriously, Tao was one of the gayest episodes ever. Along with Doppelganger, which... just... WTF? I mean, seriously. "I thought there'd be more hot girls." "Yeah." And yet... just you and me. In my fantasy world. How 'bout that?

Australian con?

It was the Armageddon con. I'm pretty sure the line is in this video collection (Parts 1-4 (http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=hazardu5)), but just in case it's not...the summation is that someone asked whether John and Rodney's chemistry translated into real life. His answer was "Uh, it's platonic..." And we take that to mean although Joe and David's off-screen chemistry is platonic, John and Rodney's on-screen chemistry is...not platonic? That just makes me love him more ;) He also has said (maybe at this con, maybe in another interview) that he purposely downplays his emotional responses so that when he DOES have an emotional response (like the tears in Adrift or the faltering in Tao or in other eps) it means more because he really, really cares for these people, his family.

I have inappropriate love for Martin Gero

I have SO MUCH love for Martin Gero because getting him and David on a commentary together? They can out-talk each other. That's awesome. Plus, Martin is David's favorite writer on the series, just like Carl is Joe's favorite writer. Together, they make John/Rodney magic.

Seriously, Tao was one of the gayest episodes ever.

I love Tao SO MUCH. Rodney's dying, John's in denial, and everybody's sad. Plus, before the sad, we get SuperheroRodney! And John being all jealous because Rodney gets superpowers and all John got was being turned into a bug. SO FUN!

Along with Doppelganger, which... just... WTF?

I honestly had to stop and rewind that episode to make sure that we got what I think we got. John's greatest fear (IN CANON) is Rodney dying. There are many times in SGA viewing where I have stop and rewind to make sure I saw what I think I saw because the writers give us amazing gifts of canon that you honestly can't believe is canon. I LOVE SGA!!

Clearly I have to pay far more attention to the writers. I get distracted by the stuff happening on screen! And I'm way behind when it comes to interviews and things because I don't want to get accidentally spoiled. Most things I'm genuinely fine with spoilers, but SG:A and Lucifer by Mike Carey are the things that I consciously make an effort to avoid. Which obviously makes it a very risky business, watching interviews - I have totally seen the bit where David did an impression of Joe, and laughed my ass off ridiculously, of course, but I didn't watch the end of the clip in case there was mention of Season 4.

My love for this show is enough that I would voluntarily deny myself David Hewlett. *in awe*

It makes me very happy that Joe Flanigan makes deliberate acting choices, because it makes the intense gayness of John Sheppard deliberate, and that just makes me ridiculously happy. Also, any commentaries with Joe and Martin and David are just extraordinary amounts of love. I think my favourite is Lost Boys, currently, although I don't think I've listened to all of them and Season 3 isn't out in England yet. Which, for the record? KILLING ME.

*grabby hands*

One of my favourite bits of Tao, incidentally, is Rodney saying Elizabeth should let John try the machine. I love the sniping. :D

And yes - canon in SG:A is just incredible. I was trying to describe a story to someone last night and I was like "so Rodney gives John this love potion -" and they kinda groaned a little and I flailed at her, "no, no, this is canonical love potion!"

*totally joins in the love*

And I'm way behind when it comes to interviews and things because I don't want to get accidentally spoiled.

Which they do ALOT because they spill secrets accidentally on purpose alot among the cast and crew. I was just mentioning to another fan-recruit last night that the best information actually comes from the actors themselves in terms of behind the scenes spoilers. Paul (back in March or April) was the one who spilled the news about Rachel being pregnant, Jason being an expectant father, and Jane being pregnant (though, we as a fandom pretty much kept that secret to ourselves until David was ready). Joe's the one, in Australia last month, who told everyone Rachel had had her son...before Rachel told everyone she had her son.

I have totally seen the bit where David did an impression of Joe, and laughed my ass off ridiculously

You mean the one David did with Jane (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04upoZYMxDk&feature=PlayList&p=5D2937AC15440291&index=29)? There's no spoilers in that. It's just David and Jane and love.

"Ummm...I'm only in one scene on Friday, so why don't we move just it to Thursday? Then I'll have Friiiiday, Saturday, Sunday....that's like three days!"

I like David's Joe Flanigan impression better than Paul's, but Paul does a great Hewlett impression (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7pvnFsXBs8). I love the cast of SGA because they are such good friends and they mock each other mercilessly.

Season 3 isn't out in England yet. Which, for the record? KILLING ME.

Well, there's no actor commentaries on Season Three (which, they soon learned was a bad idea). S3 commentaries were all directors and writers, which means you have Martin Gero talking over Martin Wood alot of times and you just feel bad because Martin Wood cannot get a word in edgewise. David's coming in next week to do some Season 4 commentaries, though.

"so Rodney gives John this love potion -" and they kinda groaned a little and I flailed at her, "no, no, this is canonical love potion!"

I wrote one of those! I finished Irresistible for the numerous viewing and just had to write a quick follow-up to it because Rodney has John cleaning his room! How much fun is that?

SGA canon is so built for pretty much anything you can throw at it. And the fun part? There are numerous fanfic stories that were written early in the series which have now become canon. The whales, the two consciousness in one brain, the superpowers...all those were fanfic stories before they were canon. SGA: We make crack your canon!
