What *really* pisses me off...
Aug. 26th, 2003 10:03 pmThere is a circle of hell reserved for musical snobs. I love music. I think after reading, and maybe dreaming, listening to music is my favourite thing in the whole world. It is so incredibly important to me, and can affect my mood in such a positive way. I can be in the foulest, most bitch-ridden mood ever, and can put on something like "the impression that I get" by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and dance around like a weevil on crack.
What I hate, though, is people that won't give music a chance. My flatmate, who won't listen to "novelty" music, and therefore misses out on everything They Might Be Giants have written. Her boyfriend, who refuses to listen to any classical that anyone's heard of.
That's what really gets me. People who play the "I know of a more obscure band than you" game. People who won't listen to bands with a record deal. People who claim that a band has "sold out" even though they sound the same as they ever did, there're just more people listening.
I guess they're the ones missing out.
I'm sorry I'm ranting lately. But I guess it's okay, because I don't have the energy or the vitriol to sustain it fr any length of time. *g*
