Where do you guys buy jewelery, if you do? I need to dress like a grown up, and I hate clothes shopping so until I can persuade someone to come help me with that I need to accessorise. All I have at the moment is a double string of black beads and a hippy-type beaded necklace. My favourite one featured malachite heavily and has broken and been sent home with [livejournal.com profile] tropes by accident, too, so I'm lacking in anything even remotely smart. Plus I just like jewelery, even if I never remember to wear it. :D

My tastes totally vary, so I'm open minded - what do you like to wear?

If I see it in a store and it's not too expensive, I get it. Around here, Target, TJ Maxx, etc. I rarely get jewelry from "real" jewelry stores -- I can't afford it. I often troll Red Envelope, as well, they often have really pretty stuff, and have really good sales usually.

I can't really afford nice jewelery either, but I tend to get mine from market stalls and stuff if I can. I like weird stuff, plus the REALLY long necklaces of the moment bug me. I like long necklaces, but so many of the ones that're in right now are just damn ugly.

It really depends on what clothes you're wearing, and where you're going. I tend to wear several rings and always wear earrings - usually dangly ones - but I rarely wear a necklace.

I should wear more earrings - I've got hair short enough that they'd be on display - but somehow I've always felt really self conscious with them on. My friend wears enormous beautiful earrings from Accessorize a lot and I really want to do that too, but... I dunno. It's my long time resistance to being girly rearing its annoying head, I think. Maybe I should try it out.

I feel totally unfinished and wrong if I forget to wear earrings. ;) I tend to buy them all over the place - I bought celtic designed earrings in Scotland, little dangly pentacles in Salem, Egyptian cartuches at the King Tut exhibit at a museum in Philly, abalone in Hilton Head, etc. The ones I'm wearing today were hand painted by a someone in South America, and I purchased them through a web site that raises funds for local craftsmen.
I like to balance my bling. If I'm wearing dangly earrings, I feel like a necklace in addition would be too much.

As a jewelry source, Etsy (http://www.etsy.com) has some REALLY cool and unique (and often very affordable) stuff.

Oh, shiny! Thank you! Someone pointed me to that site a while ago and I really liked hunting around on it but completely forgot what it was called. Mahvellous. :D!

I have three piercings in each ear, so it's a lot of earrings for me. Also I like the occasional bracelet. When I wear necklaces I tend to wear very important emblematic pieces that I'll wear for months on end -- right now it's a necklace I bought in Venice.

I have two piercings in one ear and three in the other but I tend to just leave in the earrings I have. I'm lazy that way. Bracelets, I'm looking into getting chunky ones because when I qualify I'm going to get a tattoo around one wrist and I'm going to have to be able to hide that for my job, and necklaces I tend to put on and forget about. I change 'em when I shower. XD

I didn't know you had the same ear piercings as me! :D

One day I shall take you to Affleck's Palace and we shall buy bling, omg.

Dude, we're going into Bath on Saturday, aren't we? I can help you look then, if you don't find my general random taste too offensive :-p

Depends on what you're looking for really of course, and what it's to go with. Places like Accessorize, Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, etc, are usually fairly cheap and you can get some good stuff there most of the time.

Bath has lots of random shops too, I'm sure we can find you something pret-ty :-p

OH, of course.

Also.

This is my friend's site; she usually has some beautiful things on there. Depending on how much you wanna spend http://theparlor.co.uk/shop/

Monsoon/Accessorize is my favourite place for jewellery; I spend far too much of my wages on earrings from there.

I'm totally into earrings now! I get them primarily at Claire's/Hot Topic, Target, and these awesome boutiques in Austin where they have gorgeous dangly pretty ones for under $15. As far as other jewelry, I tend to only wear necklaces, and my tastes ... vary. But I'm a sucker for anything dangly and sparkly and with pretty beadwork. I even have a couple of necklaces I wear fairly frequently that I made at one of those "bead it" stores where you can design your own.

I also, because I am a photowhore, I have pictures of me in like my favorite necklace EVER:

(I also own it in black. I don't know how grown up it is, but it's definitely what I like to wear?)

when I can afford it, I adore Wyrding Studios (used to be Wearable Sculpture). Lovely lovely stuff. When I can't afford it, I make my own or shop on etsy, as mentioned above.

I just bought some online from a place called ASOS. http://www.asos.com

Cheap, currently have a sale, seem to have a wide variety of stuff. I bought a necklace made of golden leaves and a bracelet that looks like a handcuff. They have wing earrings. ;)

There's a "Crystals" store in Bath (remember the one in Castle Arcade? Small and vety pretty?) - not entirely sure where, but google/yellow pages it...they currently have a 30% off everything sale and some amazing pendants/stones...(I was in the Cheltenham one today).

Oh and Happy New Year! x
