I'm going to get a tattoo when I qualify as a teacher. I've decided that ages ago, and I've always promised myself that I'd get a tattoo if I wanted it for more than five years; this one's been longer than that, I think.

Things is, I have a really specific idea of what I want - have the image (kinda celtic knotty) and everything - but I kinda need someone else to make it coherent for me. Turn it into an actual tattoo design. I'd approach people directly, only I have no idea who would be capable/willing. I'm absolutely willing to pay for the design once it's finished, because to be honest it's entirely possible I'll be a pain in the arse while it's being sorted out. It's kind of important that I get this right. ;)

So yeah. Basically, I'm looking for someone artistic who's willing to be bossed around. I have no idea how many people reading this LJ would qualify - if you know someone who might be willing who doesn't have me friended I'd really appreciate you giving them a nudge in my direction.

I figure it'll help to get work done if I'm aiming for something concrete, too. :D

I would LOVE to aim for something like that when I get qualified as a doctor, but I want one on my wrist and that's kind of...visible. And apparently medical professionals probably shouldn't have visible tattoos. Sigh.

Big watches = probably a no for doctors as well, at least when you're at the dogsbody stage of having to intubate people and staunch bleeding. Maybe I should just aim for psychiatry and get it when I'm no longer required to wear anything but expensive suits?

Hee, of course you can ask. It's going to be a flag, like a slightly ragged, piratey one (but in a pretty way hopefully!), and it'll be just above my ankle. I'm still working on what exactly's going to be in the centre, actually *on* the flag, if that makes sense.

What I'm looking for, actually, is something based on the yellow thorny pattern around the edge of this (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41WQV7BK32L._AA240_.jpg) to go around my wrist, but I kinda want it made to look more like a snake eating its tail. There's a bit on the left hand side of the image - just above the middle - which looks kinda like a snake head, and the bit below looks a bit like a tail. I kinda want that fiddled with to make it look more so, while still being kinda... interpretive, with the body being made up of some of the prettier, thornier bits of the rest of the design. I'm gonna get it done in black, and I need it to be thin enough that I can cover it with a watch because I'm training to be a responsible teacher type and need to be able to hide it when necessary.

Does that sound like something you might be able to do? Possibly? I'd hugely appreciate it if you reckon you could, and if you don't want to then don't worry about it at all, I'm still totally grateful for the offer. :D

Also: how much would you charge for something like this? ;)

Yes. Can you send me measurements? I need the circumference of your wrist where you want it to be, and the width you want it (I don't know how thick your watch band is likely to be).

In terms of fee - how does £15/hour sound? The initial design should take me an hour/hour and a half, then about the same again for editing (including correspondence) assuming I don't completely fuck it up the first time. The brief is pretty clear though so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm prepared for there to be a number of edits as you say your idea is quite precise, but edits really shouldn't take long.
