nny: (THOU CONSORTEST WITH DAEMONS!)
[personal profile] nny
What I want, still, more than anything in the world, is to find out that stories are real. I am still careful around wardrobes and watch avidly through the gaps in broken-down walls and try to spot the people from London Below on the Tube.

I haven't flung myself against the wall in Kings Cross, yet, but I take great delight in watching other people do so. XD

I make up stories about the people I see, especially if they vanish into nondescript doors or walk into blind alleys or look a little freaked out by the crazy girl people around them. I love Torchwood because I know where the aliens are!

I don't want to grow out of this, thank you. Growing up is overrated.

Heh. Part of my brain is still convinced that Hogwarts is out there, that in a remote area there are large white telepathic horses, and that if I went down to Antarctica I could find the remains of an Ancient city. In general I'm pretty scientifically-minded, but I think there will always be that part of me that says, 'well, who knows? Just because I don't know about something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.'

And do people *really* throw themselves at the wall in Kings Cross? That idea amuses me *way* more than it should.

Date: 2008-03-28 05:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] villainny.livejournal.com
Dude, I totally get a squee any time Antarctica is on TV, and in my head any helicopter is flown by John Sheppard. Unless it is a film in which the helicopter explodes, in which case he escaped at the last minute.

And seriously, there is nothing quite like watching small children ping themselves repeatedly off a brick wall, seriously. XD

Me to, darling. When I'm in London, I shop at Fortnum & Mason's because I know Bunter's been there. And Mary Russell Holmes. And houses one of Sherlock's bolt holes.

Everytime I see the London Eye, I think of the Doctor. And now, every time I see Queen Victoria, I think of werewolves and Torchwood.

I feel the same way about wardrobes. And we had a lamp post in our yard when I was growing up and once it snowed....well if I'd known what a hottie Mr. Tumnus was, I'd have watched longer.

I could accept, *just*, that houses in Australia were unlikely to have a hidden door to a secret passage. But I did get very annoyed at my mother because I was trying to make a concealed compartment in my wall for hiding small objects, and she got angry at me for cutting the wallpaper and scraping away at the plaster.

At my current house, I'm making plans for a secret door behind a bookcase to the wine cellar.

Aw. This is so true. It is also a big part of the reason I'd love to move to the UK,not just because it's where history comes from, but where stories are born. The best ones, anyway.
And when I get there, I am so flunging myself at the wall in King's Cross.
And I'll go to Cardiff and claim to be from the lost Torchwood so they'll let me in. And I'll go to St.James and ride the Tube in hopes of seeing someone from London Below and I'll search for an old, possibly magical, wardrobe.

There should be like a tour, see the fantastic places in London!

beneath my dignity to climb a tree,
I'll never grow up,

Your quote has created the biggest "you are not alone" comment I have ever seen. It's awesome. *hugs*

I'm one of those people who didn't throw themselves against the wall of King Cross because some part of me thinks it's a wall and I don't want to prove it's right. I prefer to think I choose not to cross :).
I still want to find my daemon or see if there's a village called Wall and go during Market Day.

That's a sloth called Shmoopy, and that's totally and without question what my daemon looks like. And there's a drystone wall near my house which has a gap that's fallen through, and the wood on the other side (I'm convinced) is a little wilder and a little older than the wood on this.
