I WAS SO RIGHT ABOUT THE WEASLEY BOYS!

*does the dance of the smug*

Charlie two years older than Percy, Bill two years older than Charlie.

I *knew* they weren't *that* much older. *g*

[/smug]

Now I'll go read the rest of it. *g*

LOL

I agree that it makes more sense for them to be younger, except if that's the case, why wasn't Charlie still in school when Ron and Harry started?

Except that can't really be right, because if Charlie were two years older than Percy, he'd still have been at Hogwarts during Harry and Ron's first year.

I think she messed it up.

I think you're right.

She did precede the answer with, "Uh-oh, Maths!" or some such indicator that this isn't her specialty subject. Plus, I seem to recall running across another discussion of the Weasleys' relative ages somewhere else, before this interview... so I don't think you're the only one boggling. :D

Hell, I'm impressed she can remember all their names, with the millions of HPverse bits of trivia she must have in her head. =)

Um... couldn't he be two and a half years older, or something? My sister's only a year and a half older than me, and she's two school years above...

Still doesn't really work, though, cause Charlie's got have been out of school for at least one full year before PS. Fred: "we haven't won the Quidditch Cup since Charlie left." (PS 114) That implies that not only has Charlie left school, he didn't just leave the June before; Gryffindor has to have lost the QC at least once since Charlie's been gone.

I suppose if you finagled it just-exactly-right, it might be 2 years and something like 11 months difference, but that seems overly complicated to me when you could just say "yeah, Charlie is 3/4 years older than Percy."

*shrugs* I dunno. JKR admitted she's not a math whiz before answering the question (I feel her pain) and she said in an earlier question that she didn't have her notebooks or anything in front of her.
