Any second language learners on my list who wouldn't mind being boringly interviewed? Doing a module called Fundamental Issues in Language Teaching, taught by the Most Boring Woman on the Planet, and I need to formulate an interview and gather some data. Won't be for a few days at least, but I'd appreciate knowing who'd be willing to submit themselves to it. It would be greatly appreciated, and although my writing ain't all that I can probably manage drabbles in appreciation...

In other news, I'm sorry for whining so much lately. Life at the moment is apathy broken by brief interludes of melodrama. I think, quite possibly, it boils down to the fact that my stomach is unhappy with me and I'm SO SICK OF SOUP. I don't know what foods I can eat, especially from what's already in my cupboard- I have no money. And when I say no money, I mean that about £4 in coppers is it. I have food, and I have money which is on its way, it's just taking its time getting to me and that's a little frustrating.

Thing is, even when life is crappy, the moon is still beautiful. There's still a little question-mark shaped group of stars that make me feel like it's not just me that doesn't understand, and that's comforting, too. Walking through crisp dry autumn leaves is still ridiculously satisfying, and bubbles still look good when you blow them out of your window. Certain little reassurances that make me remember that things'll be okay.

I'm learning German, but I'm teaching myself, so I don't know how much use I'd be.

And I feel your monetary pain - I have $32 in 20c and 10c pieces in a jar, and that's it. And I have to save that in case I get a job interview or a temp position and have to pay for train fare. Grrr.

Poor Nny. Soup can get old fast. *hugs* The stars sound cool, though.

Oh, and I'm learning Japanese, which you know, and I'm always happy to help.

It depends on what you mean by "second language learners". I have, in the past, learned at least enough to get by in Latin, Spanish, German, Attic Greek, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese; on the other hand, I'm not currently enrolled in a language-learning course. But if I fit your criteria, I'm more than happy to participate.

*snugs* No need to apologize for whining; we're all down on our luck sometime, and I'm glad you've found ways to remind yourself that not everything is awful.

Yes, me. :D English is my second language, and I've also taught French and English as second languages, I don't know how relevant this is to your study, but -- yeah.

'm a third-language learner... had French and Latin for three years in high school, but that was over two and a half years ago, so I only remember enough to get me in loads of trouble on spelling and pronunciation in my beginning Spanish class.

Interview meeeeeee! English is my second language, actually. My cradle tongue is Yiddish; I learnt English starting around five, and had no public need to speak it until I was around 8. The other languages I know came before English...

'K...
You know I have in the past learnt French, German and Spanish.
I'm now *alledgedly* "learning" Mandarin.
And I'm "teaching" English as a second language.
So, if you need me...

Yeah, be thankful for pretty fallen leaves. The South of China is the land of perpetual summer. Autumn has completely bypassed me. Is it NOVEMBER? Oh, there was me thinking it was still AUGUST...
Soon you'll be telling me it's Christmas next month. Now that I will never believe.

And, hey. You've got more money than I do right now! ahahahahahahahwah.

*hugs*

I'm not a native English speaker. Native language is Germany. My first foreign language was French, then English and finally Latin. It's been a while since I did classes but I'm still occasionally working on improving my English in certain areas.

I'll be glad to help and be interviewed.

What's wrong with your stomach, dear? How long has this been going on? I mean, is this just a couple days or has it been dragging on. In other words, should you be seeing a doctor? I worry, you know.

I have been complaining bitterly all morning because Faeon finished off all the good food in the house, but at least I have money to buy more. I just need the energy to go out of the house long enough to buy something I like. I'm hungry but nothing I can think of really sounds edible.

I love you noticing all the lovely things around you that comfort you and make you feel better. I wish I would do that more often. And you have my wishes that things will be better soon. *hugs*

Depends on how you define "second language learner." English is my native language, and the only I really speak with any degree of fluency. I've taken several years of Arabic, though, including an intensive immersion summer course followed by a semester living in Cairo, and gotten to the point where I could think in English-punctuated Arabic and make my halting way around. After that I took three semesters of French, and with the Arabic experience under my belt it only took me a month or so to start thinking in (English-punctuated) French without translating. Not taking either currently, but that's just because I am no longer in school; I still mutter them at family members and inanimate objects to stay in practice.

So, if that counts, I'd totally be willing to be interviewed!
