Weird request: Please could you link to or comment with a picture of your favourite flower?
My flower knowledge is seriously lacking, and people ask me what my favourite flower is and I have no idea. I used to say daisies but it's not them, really; I love passion flowers because they're weird and gorgeous, but I can't decide on a favourite if I have no idea what I'm talking about, right? Plus the thought of a bunch of flowers in post comments makes me happy.
...it makes sense in my head. :D

Date: 2006-09-10 04:58 pm (UTC)Certainly makes for an interesting situation in the Hellogy. I wonder if I can argue that they were picked up from friendly indiginous groups or merchants by ships returning from the Indian Ocean? (LONG story there, HUGE wars with India and several African regions.)
Always this.

Date: 2006-09-10 05:04 pm (UTC)http://jrroses.com/images/black_magic.jpg Black Magic roses, which when you actually hold them look absolutely unreal, as if they're made of red velvet.
http://psjk.homestead.com/files/Gladioli.jpg Gladioli, because they're weird. :D
http://www.dynamiteservice.com/paradise.jpg Birds of paradise. Mum hates them but they grew in our front yard when I was wee and I like them.

Date: 2006-09-10 08:16 pm (UTC)What, you thought the username was a random choice? *grins* I generally prefer trees to flowers. Although I adore the way jasmine (http://www.life.uiuc.edu/ib/363/image/jasmin2.jpg) and honeysuckle (http://www.photo-seller.com/PhotoAlbums/Flowers/Honeysuckle.jpg) smell. Mmmmm. Carnations (http://www.johnstoa.co.uk/anna's%20garden/border%20carnations.jpg), too - they're almost spicy.

Date: 2006-09-11 02:27 am (UTC)I also love Gardenias (http://leon.ifas.ufl.edu/garden1.jpg), which are another simple white flower. Gardenias grow on bushes with dark green leaves, and have absolutely the most gorgeous fragrance in the world.
When I was young and went out to dances and other such events, I always preferred Orchids (http://www.billyandmark.com/assets/images/double_orchid_satin_background_1.jpg), especially purple ones. As opposed to my other favorites, I love orchids for their complexity and delicacy. Although there is a shade of purple called orchid, orchids actually come in quite a range of colours. I think white might be most common.
