I'm vaguely tempted to write a fic as a gift for someone, but I'm not sure. I don't know if they like my writing or not, and I don't know if that makes a difference - is it the thought that counts? Or is it the gifts that matter?

[You may have noticed I've made no 9/11 significant post.

I remember. Of course I remember. I remember pretty much every time a plane goes overhead. How could I forget? But the world isn't remembering it in any sort of constructive manner. It's used as an excuse too often. So I'd rather remember it over here, on my own, without it being pointed, I guess. (Not that my f-list is, of course, I'm just sayin'.)]

I've checked "yes - I would be more flattered if it was a better fic" but actually I think I'd be just as flattered whatever the quality -- I'd just find it easier to squee wholeheartedly if it were a better fic.

Yeah, what it boils down to for me is that it'd be easier to leave feedback if the fic blew me away. But either way, flattered and happy.

Also, I marked that I'd leave feedback for a gift fic only if it was good, but in retrospect I think you mean "leave feedback for a fic given to you." (I am not good with the reading comprehension.) In which case I'd definitely leave feedback of the happy-and-flattered sort, either way. And would genuinely be happy and flattered, even if I wouldn't be grabbed by the fic on its own merits.
